Film Screening: People’s Emergency Briefing

June 18 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Climate change and biodiversity loss mean huge changes for our economy, our society and the way we live our lives. Many of us are fearful. But most of us aren’t talking about it. It’s time to change that.

If you’ve ever thought:
“What does climate change actually mean for me and my family?”
“I wish someone would explain the facts clearly with no jargon.”
“I’m not a scientist or an activist – what can I do to make a difference?”
then this event is for you.

The People’s Emergency Briefing is a 50-minute film presenting the latest evidence on the climate and nature crisis and the threat it poses to the UK, as presented to politicians last November. The film offers stark facts but also sets out an inspiring, realistic path to a better future.
After the film, there will be small group discussions about how we can support ourselves and take action together, and a chance to talk to local community groups and get involved. Norwich City Council will also be undertaking engagement to support the launch of their draft citywide climate action plan for public consultation.

We encourage you to come with friends, family, colleagues or neighbours. We don’t have all the answers – but we know for sure that community is one of them.

Doors will be open from 6:30pm. We encourage you to arrive well before we start at 7pm, to give you time to browse the displays and get a drink or snack from the bar.

Screenings are happening all over the country – find out what some viewers thought of the film here.

This is a free event hosted by Sustainable Food Norwich, Our Power Community Energy, Norfolk & Waveney Mind, Reimagine Norwich, The Gathering Gates, Norwich Quakers and Norwich Friends of the Earth, with support from Norwich City Council.
